Does a bucket truck and a trailer require the same CDL as the truck alone?

A utility crew may use a heavy straight bucket truck on one job and tow a pole or equipment trailer on another. Get the power-unit and trailer ratings from the fleet manager, along with brake and transmission details. Confirm the class with DPS.

Separate your ELDT record from your test-truck reservation

For an applicable Class A or B path, online theory and in-person range and road activity have different purposes. Match the curriculum to your license goal and confirm the provider’s completion record. Vehicle rental covers the truck or bus reserved for the test. Ask separately about eligibility for the complimentary behind-the-wheel activity.

Which Texas office should I visit?

Start with the licensing agency for the permit or endorsement. A general driver license office may have a different address from your assigned skills-test site. Use the exact location on your appointment when requesting a test truck.
